3-member Election Commission team arrives in Tripura

Agartala, July 24 (UNI) A three-member team of Election Commision, led by Deputy Election Commission on R Balakrishnan, arrived here today on a two-day visit to Tripura.

According to official sources here, they will meet leaders of all political parties at the state secretariat. The other members of the team are commission's under secretary K N Bhat and section official Anup Kumar.

The team came here to look into the allegations of various opposition parties of largescale irregularities in the voters' lists. The Congress, BJP and INPT had lodged complaints with the commission.

Mr Bhat and Mr Kumar are also likely to visit all the four district headquarters.

About 42,000 fake names were deleted from the voters' list from the draft electoral rolls recently.

Congress spokesman Ratan Chakraborty, however, said all information relating to irregularities in the voters' list will be submitted to the EC team.
