Yamuna inundates five villages in Haryana
Jagadhri, July 23 (UNI) Five villages falling in the Chachhrauli area of Yamunanagar district were inundated following a sudden rise in the water level in the Yamuna river.
Officals sources said here today two villages Malli Majra and Namajpur had been completely cut off from the rest of the district.
These villages were in four feet deep water, after the river breached the flood protection works along the Yamuna.
Another three villages, Lakar, Bhilpur and Bhelgarh were also affected by the flood waters. The district administration is supplying essential commodities to the affected villages, officals claimed.
The Tajewal headworkers released 1.5 lakh cuseus water into the river that led to the sudden rise in the water level this morning.
The water level was gradually receeding, officals added.
No loss of life has been reported from any of the affected areas, though there has been a loss to property including crops.
