Varanasi gurukul prays for Prince's life, kids cut b'day cake

Varanasi, July 23 (UNI) Students of a gurukul in this religious city today performed sacred rituals and offered prayers for the life and safety of Prince -- the 5-year-old boy, who is trapped in a 60-feet deep pit of a submersible tubewell in Kurukshetra (Haryana).

The students of Purwa Madhyama and Uttar Madhyama, aged between five and 14 years and dressed in customary sartorials performed the 'Rudhrabhishek' of Lord Shiva, followed by the 'Havan' and 'Raksha Kavach Jaap' in the Dharam Sangh Shiksha Mandal here.

''The rituals were performed to pray for the life and safety, besides the early rescue of Prince,'' said Jagjitanji Maharaj, the incharge of the Gurukul.

In a similar development, over 150 kids holding pint-sized national tri-colour in the their hands celebrated the birthday of Prince under the banner of Vande Mataram Sanghursh Samiti (VMSS) at the Nagari Natak Mandali here. The kids later cut the five kg cake with the icing 'Dont Worry Prince, Happy B'Day.' UNI ARS MB RP PC1658
