Two more arrested, five MNP fundamentalists remanded
Coimbatore, July 23 (UNI) Two more people were arrested today even as the five activists of the fundamentalist outfit ''Manitha Needhi Pasarai'' (MNP), held yesterday by the city police along with explosive materials, were produced before the Judicial Magistrate V, T V Anad in his house and remanded to 15 day judicial custody.
Police sources said they had arrested two more people and they were being interrogated at an unknown place.
However, police officials refused to divulge any details regarding the arrest.
The city police had arrested Haroon Basha, his brother Malik Basha, Tippu Sultan, Athikur Rehman and K Shamsuddeen yesterday and seized the explosive materials from their house.
Police said the five accused had been lodged in the Salem Central prison. During interrogation, it was discovered that Haroon Basha had sent am e-mail to his friend, in support of the recent Mumbai serial bomb blasts.
Police were examining whether the arrested accused had any links with the terorists behind the recent Mumbai blasts.
