Tearing up banners sparks tension

Pondicherry, July 23: Tension prevailed at Kirumambakkam near here today when miscreants tore up the banners put up by former legislator P.Rajavelu on the occasion of his birthday yesterday.

According to police, some banners put up by the supporters of Rajavelu were found torn today. This led to unrest among the supporters of Rajavelu.

Police swung into action following which armed police pickets were posted in the village to prevent any untoward incident.
