Sujata Nikhalje's bail plea order likely on Wednesday

Mumbai, July 23 (UNI) A MCOCA special court is likely to pass an order on Wednesday on the bail application of Sujata, wife of underworld don Chhota Rajan, arrested on charges of extortion in November last year.

Hearing in the case, was concluded in July and the MCOCA (Maharashtra Control for Organised Crime Act) court Judge Abhay Thipsay had reserved its order till July 26.

Last month Sujata Rajan had filed a bail application on the basis of merit. Her counsel had prayed that investigations on most charges against her had been completed and that there was no need for further custody. Hence, she be released on bail.

Sujata was arrested by the police last November for allegedly trying to extort Rs 18 lakh from a builder at Chembur and for possesing unaccounted wealth. She was charged under MCOCA Act after the police recorded conversations between her and Chota Rajan on matters pertaining to extortion and other havala transactions.
