Restore Spl.Edu facilities to refugees: OFERR
Chennai, July 23: The Organisation for Eelam Refugees Rehabilitation (OFERR) today urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to restore the special education facilities for the Sri Lankan Tamil refugees to puruse their higher education in this State.
In a statement here, OFERR said this would enable them to prepare themselves to return to their homeland and help in rebuilding the Island nation.
It also thanked the Chief Minister for increasing the cash dole paid to Sri lankan Tamil Refugees from Rs 200 to 400. This increase would be a great boon to most of the refugees, who were living below the poverty line, especially women and children and physically disadvantaged persons.
It also thanked Tamil Nadu Ministers Suba Thangavelan and Periyakaruppan for visiting the refugee camps in the State and recommending the increase of dole and other facilities.
