Radhanagri dam overflowing

Kolhapur, July 23 (UNI) Radhanagari irrigation dam of this district has filled up its full storage capacity and started overflowing this afternoon.

District Collector office and irrigation office sources said the two automatic flood gates of the dam have been opened opened at 1440 hours and 1445 hours, respectively, and total water discharged from the dam is 3,400 cuseces.

The Radhanagari dam, located in hilly Radhanagari tehsil of this district, is one of the main drinking water resources of Kolhapur.

Last year the dam had filled to storage capacity on July 26.

Meanwhile, Gaganbavada tehsil of this district recorded highest 140 mm rainfall during the last 24 hours ended at 0800 hours today.

While in the same period the district had recorded a total 547.3 mm rainfall, sources added.
