PM prays for speedy rescue of trapped boy

New Delhi, Jul 23: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is praying for the speedy rescue and good health of the young boy Prince, who has been trapped in a submersible tubewell in Kurukshetra since Friday and has offered to pay for his medical treatment.

The Haryana Government is making all efforts to rescue the boy and we will take full medical care of the boy on his rescue, a PMO release said here today.

''The Prime Minister prays once again that the boy's unexpected trauma ends quickly,'' it said.

Meanwhile recue efforts are in full swing with army engineers consulting experts around the world as efforts are on to pull out the 5-year-old boy from the 60-feet-deep hole of a submersible tubewell in Haldera village.

Earlier, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, accompanied by local MP Naveen Jindal, visited the site and offered all assistance to rescue the boy. Mr Hooda said a team of the Mumbai Fire Brigade had left for the site to join the rescue operations.

Over 40 hours have passed since Prince, son of Ram Chander, a daily wage labourer, fell into the hole of the tubewell while playing with his friends on Friday evening.

The trapped boy is continously being fed on milk, chocolates, biscuits and other food items and and is being supplied with water and glucose in the 16-inch wide hole in which he is trapped. Oxygen is being pumped into the hole from a cylinder with the help of a tube to help the boy breathe easily.
