Monsoon weakens in MP
Bhopal, July 23 (UNI) Though rainfall continues in western Madhya Pradesh, monsoon has weakened in other parts of the state.
Weekly markets were affected by a downpour in Jhabua this afternoon and the area's Bahadur Sagar Lake has attained full-tank level. The state capital witnessed drizzles for the third consecutive day.
''A low-pressure area weakened in the vicinity of north-western Madhya Pradesh but cyclonic circulation prevails near the region.
Over the next 24 hours, thundershowers are likely at several places in Gwalior, Chambal, Ujjain, Indore, Bhopal and Hoshangabad divisions besides a few locations in other parts,'' a Regional Meteorological Centre spokesman said.
The monsoon was strong overnight in Hoshangabad, Ujjain and Indore divisions. Maximum precipitation of 13 cm was recorded at Udaynagar and Bagli. Corresponding figures were Kannod 10, Khategaon 9, Hoshangabad 7, Harda 5, Lanji and Indore 4 each, Tonkkhurd and Sonkacch 3 cm each.
