Indo-Japan worship on angioplasty

Hyderabad, Jul 23 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Mines T Subbarami Reddy today inaugurated a two-day Indo-Japanese workshop on complex trans radial angioplasty' at Global hospital here.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Reddy said Global Hospitals was known for highly trained and experienced cardiologists and state-of-the-art equipment. He appreciated the efforts of the Global Hospital Chairman, Dr Ravindranath, in bringing the latest technolgy in medicine to the country.

Talking about the Indian doctors contribution in the country, Mr Reddy said doctors serving in India were doing their best to serve the society with their profession. ''However, Indian doctors were getting improper encouragement and remuneration compared to the doctors in other countries. I appreciate the zeal with which the Indian doctors were discharging their duties'', he added.

Dr Ravindranath said Global Hospitals specialises in patient-friendly, radial angiography and radial angioplasty in which the procedure was done through the artery in the wrist instead of the one in the groin.

He said the workshop was aimed at creating awareness among the doctors about the complex trans radial angioplasty. ''Angioplasty was one of the three standard treatments for coronary artery disease (CAD) - a disease in which the blood flow to the heart was restricted as the arteries, clogged with plaque deposits, harden (atherosclerosis)'', Chairman added.

Dr Shigeru Saito of Japan, an International authority on radial angioplasty, Dr Teja Patel of Ahmedabad and Dr Sanjay Shah will also participate in the worshop.
