Eight Maoists killed in exchange of fire

Ongole, July 23: Eight Maoists, including four women ultras, were killed in an encounter with police in Nallmala forest area of Yerragondapalem mandal near Polutala in Prakasham district, about 200 km from here today.

When a police party was conducting combing operation in Nallamala forest area, they came across a group of naxals. When the naxals opened fire, the police party appealed to them to surrender. But when the naxals continued to fire, the police party returned the fire, according to police.

After the encounter, the police party recovered the bodies of eight Maoists, including four women naxals, one AK-47 and three 303 mm rifles rptrifles and some kit rpt kit bags from the scene.
