Srinagar, Jul 23: Urging India and Pakistan not to allow the saboteurs of peace to succeed in their designs, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) president Omar Abdullah today said the process must continue in the best interest of both the countries.
He urged the central leadership that the recent blasts in Mumbai and Srinagar should not be allowed to have any effect on the peace process going on between the two neighbours for the past two and a half years.
We should not fall into the trap of those who wante to derail the process, said Mr Abdullah, Member of Parliament from Srinagar constituency.
Addressing a public meeting at Lolab, about 112 km from here in north Kashmir today, Mr Omar recalled a speech by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in Srinagar that we should not repeat the past mistakes on Kashmir again.
The former Union Minister of state for External Affairs, Mr Omar praised Pakistan General Parvez Musharraf for showing flexibility in the Pak stand on Kashmir.
Mr Omar urged Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to show some flexibility and respond positively to Pak offer so that the core issue of Kashmir is resolved and lasting peace restored in the sub-continent.
He said it is the people of Jammu and Kashmir who suffered the most because of tension between India and Pakistan.
