Disabled should not be considerd weak: Governor
Ranchi, Jul 23 (UNI) Jharkhand Governor Sayed Sibte Razi today said disabled people should not be considered weak and frail as they shoulder vital responsibilities in society.
While distributing television and radio sets among disabled students in a function organised at Rajbhavan, Mr Razi said disabled people were an integral part of the society and they should not be ill treated.
The governer urged the physically challanged students to keep their morale high and work with self confidence.
Giving examples of Soordas, disciple of lord Krishna, famous dancer Sudha Chandran and renowned scientist Stephen Hawkins, Mr Razi said all were disabled but their contribution to the society would always be remembered.
He said according to constitutional provisions disabled were given 3 per cent reservation in educational institutions.
Appreciating the initiatives of government school for blind, deaf and dumb school, Mr Razi said the direction for converting these institutions upto secondary level had been issued.
