Bharti Airtel crosses the 25 mn customer mark
New Delhi, Jul 23: Bharti Airtel Limited (BAL), India's leading telecom service provider, today announced it has crossed the 25 million customer mark in over 10 years, covering mobile, landline as well as broadband customers.
With this, BAL has become the first Indian private telecom company to join an exclusive list of global telecom operators with more than 25 million customers.
''It is indeed a remarkable achievement not only for us at Airtel, but also for the country as it clearly underlines the coming of age of the Indian telecom sector. BAL's exponential growth highlights the undisputed position of India as the telecom hotspot of the world as the economic development of a country is very clearly linked with telecom penetration,'' BAL President Manoj Kohli said.
Strong focus on external as well as internal customers, strategic business alliances and a scalable business model have together helped achieve BAL's leadership position.
The achievement comes shortly after Bharti Airtel was ranked among the top 10 best performing companies in the world in the globally renowned BusinessWeek IT 100 list.
BAL, one of India's leading private sector providers of telecommunications services, complements its mobile, broadband and telephone services with national and international long distance services.
