Atwal, Chopra eye top 10 finish at BC Open
Endicott, New York, July 23 (UNI) Arjun Atwal's romance with the par 4 ninth continued as the Orlando-based Indian hit his second eagle on the same hole to finish tied 27th on the penultimate day of the three million dollar BC Open at the Atunyote Golf Course here.
After yesterday's outing of three under 69, Atwal aggregates seven under 209 in three rounds. Meanwhile, his close pal Indo-Swede Daniel Chopra carried forward his impressive form and returned an excellent four under card with five birdies to finish the day at tied 15th.
Chopra, who aggregates nine under 207, is five shots off the leader, fellow Swede Gabriel Hjertstedt, and would be eyeing a top 10 finish in the final round later today.
Atwal, who started ominously with a bogey on the 11th, saw the fortune tuning to his favour as soon as he made the turn. He banged in a birdie on the first hole and then gained another stroke on the fourth.
He signed off the day in style repeating his round one feat --an eagle -- on the ninth. Atwal has gained five strokes on the hole in past three days.
Chopra, meanwhile, began with a bang as he gained a stroke on the very first hole. He struck another birdie on the third before dropping one shot on the ninth -- the only blemish in an otherwise flawless outing.
On his return journey, he again started with a birdie and went on to hit two more on the 12th and the 14th.
