Unique temple in honour of Chandrasekhar Azad
Jhabua(MP), July 22(UNI) A unique temple in honour of revolutionary freedom fighter Chandrasekhar Azad will be set up at his birth place Bhabra in this district during his birth centenary this year.
Historic remnants and documents related to the life and works of Azad and his associates will be kept at the temple estimated to cost Rs 3 crores, according to Bhopal's Swaraj Sansthan Director Shriram Tiwari.
Born on July 23, 1906 at Bhabra, Azad fought against the British even at a young age and became a martyr at Allahabad's Alfred Park on February 27, 1931.
Mr Tiwari says the ''Janjagaran Yatra'', scheduled to be taken out from Bhabra to Allahabad between July 13 and July 23, has been postponed due to heavy rains. The Yatra has been rescheduled from September 9 to 18.
Mr Tiwari said ''Chandrasekhar Samman'' would be given from this year to those individuals or organisations for outstanding contribution in creating patriotic feeling and nation-building. The award carries Rs 1.50 lakh in cash and a citation.
A statue of Azad will be installed at Jhabua's Azad Chowk by the municipal council, he said, adding several programmes would be organised at Bhabra also.
