Sena-BJP to press for no-confidence against govt, in winter session
Mumbai, July 21 (UNI) Shiv Sena-BJP today said that it would press for its notice of no-confidence against the Maharashtra government and Deputy Speaker Pramod Shende in the winter session of the State Legislature beginning in Nagpur from December four.
Addressing a conference at the end of the three-week monsoon session, Leader of Opposition Ramdas Kadam and BJP leader Gopinath Munde said their notices of no-confidence had not been rejected.
''If that happens, we will again submit a fresh one. But we will force the government for a debate on the floor of the house,'' they said.
Lashing out at the government for going into a self-congratulatory mode over the arrest of three suspects in the bomb blasts case, Mr Munde said the the blasts probe had made no head way. The government had tried to absolve itself of the massive intelligence failure to prevent the blasts even though the central investigating agencies had warned of terror strikes in Mumbai at major communication and transport sites. ''Still, the Mumbai Commissioner of police and Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil say that there was no definite information. Perhaps, they wanted information on the exact time, day and place of terrorist strike,'' he said.
They said the government and the Deputy Speaker Pramod Shende had ''murdered'' democracy. Mr Munde said the opposition wanted to speak on the confidence vote, but were not allowed to do so. ''The motion was immediately put to vote and hence we could not speak,'' he added.
Farmers suicides, Bhiwandi violence, Mumbai serial train blasts were prominent debates initiated by the opposition and successfully put the government on the mat for its failure to handle the incidents.
