K'taka Govt proposes to generate 4,000 MW of power in 4 yrs
Bangalore, July 21 (UNI) The Karnataka Government proposes to generate 4,000 MW of power at a cost of Rs 17,000 crore in the next four years, Energy Minister H D Revanna informed today.
Talking to reporters here, he said the Government had sent a proposal in this regard to the Centre for clearance. The projects would be located in Bijapur and Hassan (1,000 MW each), Raichur, Gulbarga, Mysore and Belgaum (500 MW each). Besides, Gundia 400 MW project would be implemented by April next, he added.
Mr Revanna said work was in progress under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyuth Yojana in 17 districts, covering 19 lakh rural households.
He said 43 new 33kv sub-stations were targetted to be commissioned this year. The Government had planned to invest Rs 3,126 crore in the modernisation of five electricity supply companies for providing quality power supply in the State.
