Hooda orders probe in flood incident
Chandigarh, July 21 (UNI) The Haryana government today ordered a vigilance enquiry to look into the circumstances leading to a bridge collapse on the flooded Markanda river near Naraingarh where four people were killed and over 15 feared dead.
Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the decision to order a vigilance enquiry was taken during the cabinet meeting. The report would be submitted within a month.
He said it was also decided to give an ex-gratia of Rs two lakh each to the next of the kin of the deceased.
The cabinet also decided to develop PGMIS Rohtak as a Centre of Excellence and the salary of the doctors at the institute would be at par with those at the Post-Graduate Institute in Chandigarh. Mr Hooda said the state government had extended by six months the term of the commission of enquiry appointed to look into various aspects of the now disbanded Haryana State Industrial Security Force.
A one man commission headed by Mr Justice K S Bhalla had requested to extended the term of the enquiry, he added.
The term of the Garg Commission investigating into Gurgaon violence had also been extended by six months, Mr Hooda added.
