All-party 'Nepal Jan Chetna' yatra reaches Lucknow
Lucknow, July 21 (UNI) The all-party Nepal Jan Chetna Yatra, aimed at strengthening Indo-Nepalese friendship and democracy in the Himalayan country, reached here today.
The Jan Chetna Yatra, led by Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) national general secretary D P Tripathi, was flagged off yesterday by former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar from New Delhi, will reach Kathmandu on July 27 where the 'Chetna' flag would be handed over to Nepal Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala.
Addressing a press conference here, Prof Tripathi said that the yatra, represented by all prominent political parties of the country, would show its solidarity with the struggle for a democratic system in Nepal.
He said participation of the Maoist faction in the present government set up of Nepal proved a ''positive pointer towards the new formula of democracy.'' The yatra is accompanied by BJP MP Pankaj Choudhury and former Nepal's Labour minister Jyotindra Mohan Choudhury. The Yatra will stop at Varanasi, Patna, Begusarai, Purnea and Siliguri before entering Nepal.
