Pakistan condemns Israeli aggression

Islamabad, July 20 (UNI) Pakistan's Senate Foreign Relations Committee today condemned the Israeli aggression in Lebanon and urged the Muslim countries to play proactive role for cease-fire.

The committee held its session at the Parliament House to consider the situation in Lebanon and the willful killings of 300 civilians by Israel during the last 10 days.

Through a resolution, the Committee unanimously, condemned Israel's aggression as a violation of all civilised norms of behaviour and international law.

It also suggested that the four important Muslim leaders of the world including President General Pervez Musharraf, King of Saudi Arabia, Prime Ministers of Malaysia and Turkey should immediately visit the United Nations to contact its Secretary General for immediate cease-fire in Lebanon and put pressure on Israel to withdraw its forces.

The Committee also proposed these leaders to contact the leaders of America and European Union to play their due role to end this aggression.

It also deplored the dual aggression against two democratic states of the Arab and Muslim world - Palestine and Lebanon.

The Committee also regretted the apathy and inability of the Muslim world to translate its economic influence into political influence, which shows both lack of vision and will.

Expressing solidarity with the people of Lebanon and Palestine, the committee demanded the international community to put principles before political interest and put pressure on Israel to stop the aggression which has become a war against the people and infrastructure of Lebanon.
