Muslims urged to observe Friday as 'Anti-Terror' Day
Mumbai, July 20 (UNI) Prominent Islamic Organisations - the World Islamic Network and Khoja Shia Isnaashari Jammat -- today urged the community members to observe Friday as the ''anti-terrorist day'' where prayers for those killed in the recent serial blasts would be offered and a vow to fight terrorism taken.
In a joint statement, the organisations condemned the serial blasts and said the country could not afford terror acts. They urged the Muslims to root out terrorism.
Mr Imran Rasool, managing trustee of World Islamic Network, said there was no place for terrorism in Islam and said that no religion tolerated terrorism. According to Quran, killing self or others are prohibited, he said.
Mr Safdar Karmali, President of Shia Isnnashari Jammat condemning the blasts, said acts of terror against innocent people are against Islam and exhorted the community to raise its voice against terrorism.
The religious leaders said that on Friday thousands of Muslims across the country would offer prayers at mosques, specially to pay homage to those killed in the serial explosions.
They also appealed to the community members to take a vow to fight terrorism after the Friday prayers and demanded that the perpetrators of the blasts should be brought to book.
