Memory expert lays claim to world record

New Delhi, July 20 (UNI) A memory expert took just two minutes today to remember the names and dates of birth of 14 individuals, thus staking claim to a world record.

Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, whose name figures in the Limca Book of Records as the strongest memory man of India, performed the feat before mediapersons at a city hotel.

In two minutes, he remembered, and later recalled, the names and dates of birth written on placards and held out by 14 people sitting before him.

The Guinness World Record in the category is held by Germany's Michaela Buchvaldova for memorising 13 names in this manner.

Mr Chowdhury, author of nearly a dozen books and a forthcoming movie on memory, said he had received authorisation for his record breaking attempt from the Guinness World Records. No Guinness official was, however, present at today's event.
