Meghalaya's special police team interrogates MULTA commander
Shillong, Jul 20 (UNI) A special team of Meghalaya police today left for Guwahati to interrogate the arrested 'commander' of Muslim Liberation Tigers of Assam (MULTA), a militant outfit of Northeast.
The team would try to have information about the presence MULTA's members in Meghalaya.
On July 18, the Asom police arrested MULTA leader Nur Islam alias Lambu from Fatasil Ambari area in Guwahati. Islam arrest was close on the heels after a central intelligence agency's tip-off about the presence of MULTA militants sheltering in one of the hotels, which they code name ''package hotel''.
Following the tip-off, the state police raided several hotels.
However, the raid did not yield any result.
The Asom police got an information that about 15 to 20 MULTA militants had used Shillong and Lad Rymbai as corridors to sneak into Bangladesh recently.
Meghalaya shares some 442-km-long porous border with Bangladesh.
