Haryana earmarks Rs 472 crore for boosting irrigation

Narwana, July 20 (UNI) The Haryana government has earmarked over Rs 472 crore for augmenting irrigation facilities in the state during the current financial year.

The government has also provided 49 per cent more irrigation water to the agriculture sector this year as compared to the previous year, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said after laying the foundation stone of the Dhamtan distributory with BML Barwala link at Ughana village, 15 km from here today.

With the commissioning of this distributory, it would irrigate 9955 acres of additional land and 27,736 acres of land would get more irrigation facilities.

He said efforts were being made for equitable distribution of water and for this purpose 109 km long BML Hansi-Butana Multipurpose link canal was being constructed at a cost of Rs 259 crore. It would be completed within next two years.

He said Dadupur-Shahbad-Nalvi Canal was also being construction at a cost of Rs 267 crore and it would irrigate 46,250 hectares of land of Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar and Ambala districts.

The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of a Judicial Complex to be constructed at a cost of Rs 3 crore over an 3.5 acres of land.
