Four killed in Haryana cloudburst: Two die in Jharkhand bolts
New Delhi, July 20 (UNI) At least four people, including a woman and a child, were killed and several others injured when they were washed away in Markanda river which was inundated following a cloudburst near the Kala Amb bridge in Naraingarh sub-division of Ambala district.
The bodies were recovered from the flooded river.
The impact of the cloudburst was so strong that a portion of the bridge was badly damaged and the vehicles passing over it were washed away.
Four persons travelling in a jeep from Dehradun to Manali were washed away but were fished out by the divers later. They were given first aid as they had suffered minor injures.
Two people lost their lives in Chatra, Jharkhand, when lightning struck Gosaidih and Navadih villages. The deceased were ploughing their fields when lightning struck.
Delhi experienced several bursts of light rains, maintaining the coolness in the weather.
The light showers, which hit the Capital in several brief bursts throughout the day, helped kept the weather outdoors comfortable.
While the maximum temperature maintained at yesterday's leve of 32.1 Degree Celsius, the minimum temperature was 27.7 Degree Celsius. Weathermen said the capital had experienced a total of 3.6 mm of rainfall since last evening.
In North-West, monsoon was active in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh as moderate to heavy rain lashed most areas in the north-west region in the past 24 hours.
The south-west monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of west Rajasthan and its northern limit passes through Jalore, Jodhpur and Ganganagar, according to the Weathermen.
Western disturbance lay over Jammu and Kashmir and neighbourhood and an upper air cyclonic circulation over south-west Uttar Pradesh and neighbourhood, extending upto 4.5 km above sea level.
