Cops yet to find clue linking MP with Mumbai blasts

Bhopal, July 20 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Police has made it clear that no evidence or clue, linking the Mumbai transit terror strike with any individual or organisation in this state, has been unearthed so far.

''We are definitely probing two e-mail that allegedly originated from Madhya Pradesh. No arrest has been executed so far,'' Additional Inspector-General (Intelligence) S K Raut told UNI here.

In a meeting with senior police officers at Mumbai yesterday, Mr Raut briefed them on SIMI activities.

''Chemistry lecturer Shafiq Siddiqui, who is incarcerated in Khandwa district and was apprehended in May for objectionable propaganda against a majority community, had nothing to do with the blasts and he was not interrogated by any Maharashtra Police official,'' Mr Raut claimed.

As per a UNI report from Khandwa, local-resident Siddiqui was teaching at Jalgaon's Anglo-Urdu Junior College. In April and May, Khandwa district's police arrested a dozen SIMI members.

A youth Sumit Tamrakar was apprehended here yesterday for dispatching explosions-related e-mail while posing as the SIMI chief. He confessed that his intention was merely sensationalism but the police are profoundly probing every related aspect.

Besides, e-mail was allegedly sent from a cybercafe here and also from Indore.
