Aussie all-rounder Blackwell out for ODI series against New Zealand
Sydney, July 20 (UNI) Australian all-rounder Alex Blackwell was today ruled out of the ODI series against New Zealand due to a knee injury she picked up while training.
Blackwell ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee during a New South Wales training session at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday.
She will undergo surgery on Monday in Sydney, a Cricket Australia release said here.
The injury forces the all-rounder out of Australia's next assignment against New Zealand -- a five-match one-day series and a Twenty20 fixture to be played in Brisbane from October 18.
''It's very disappointing to be injured and know I'm going to be watching from the sidelines as I've been training hard over the past three months in readiness for the season,'' Blackwell said after being sidelined for the series.
