Discharge from KRS increased to over 40,000 cusecs

Mysore, July 19 (UNI) Authorities at the Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) reservoir across river Cauvery further increased the outflow to 40,681 cusecs following an inflow increase to 45,308 cusecs following copious rainfall in the catchment areas in Kodagu.

The authorities have issued continuous flood warnings to those living along the banks of the river to move to safer places following heavy discharge from the dam to the river.

The level in the reservoir stood at 123.13 ft as against the maximum level of 124.80 ft.

KRS sources told UNI that the outflow might be increased later in the day.

The Triveni Sangama near Bagamandala in Kodagu district was overflowing and traffic between Bagamandala and rest of the district was completely affected.

The combined outflow from KRS and Kabini had further increased to 62,034 cusecs.

With continous rains in the catchment areas of Kabini reservoir, the inflow had increased to 23,556 cusecs and outflow was recorded at 21,433 cusecs. The water level was maintained at 2,283.02 ft as against the full capacity of 2,284 ft. The Harangi level had already reached the danger mark and stood at 2,856.51 ft as against the maximum level of 2,859 ft. The inflow and outflow were 4,703 and 4,973 cusecs respectively.
