Court should not enter the legislative domain: CPI(M)
New Delhi, Jul 18 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (Marxist) today termed as ''not acceptable'' the Supreme Court's observations on the Delhi Laws (Special Provisions) Act 2006.
The Government should take ''all necessary steps to rebut this unwarranted and unjust intervention of the Supreme Court'' into the domain of the legislature, the Delhi State Committee of the party said.
In a statement, the party took exception to the ''tone and tenor'' of the judicial remarks, opining that the Court had in effect asserted that it could decide the fate of legislations passed by Parliament.
The court had yesterday taken strong exception to the enactment of the law, putting a year-long moratorium against the removal of unauthorised construction and sealing of commercial establishments operating from residential areas in the capital saying it was aimed at overruling its orders.
In a separate statement, the Delhi unit of the BJP said the court's observations exposed the government's intention to ''create confusion''.
The Centre should now constitute a team of senior officials to implement the Tejinder Khanna committee's recommendations within a week, the party said.
