CPIM has link with underground org: BJP
Agartala, Jul 17: The BJP today alleged that there was a nexus between ruling CPI(M) and the underground activists in the state.
BJP's Zonal Organising secretary of the North Eastern States V Satish told UNI here that there was '' a ''clear nexus'' between the ruling CPI(M) and the underground activists.
''We have concrete facts about the nexus between the Government and the extremist groups in the state,'' he said.
Referring to the Mumbai blasts, Mr Satish said the entire Northeast region, particularly Tripura, has become a 'safe haven' for the ''Islamic Fundamentalists'' to carry out anti-India activities due to the porous border with Bangladesh.
''The NDA government has sensed the urgency and had taken up the project of border fencing with the neighbouring country. We had received stiff opposition from Bangladesh government in this regard,'' he said.
He also critised the UPA government at the centre for showing alleged negligence towards the entire North Eastern region.
''Earlier Pakistan was the only thorn in our flesh but now Bangladesh is proving to be 'breeding ground' for the Islamic fundamentalists as well as the Islamic terrorists groups like the Al Qaeda and Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT). Unless the UPA Government fences the entire international border with Bangladesh, terrorism will continue to cripple the e entire country in the near future too,'' said the BJP leader.
When asked about the prospects of BJP in the state, Mr Satish said the party was gaining inroads into the NE region, which was formerly a strong bastion of the Congress. ''We have proved our existence in Asom. We will be able to perform well in Tripura too.
The CPI(M)-led Left Front Government doesn't allow other parties to exercise their democratic rights. Our party workers can not go to interior places for campaigning. They are threatened or manhandled,'' Mr Satish said.
The BJP leader was here to attend a party meeting.
