Scheme for Retro-fitted 2-Stroke TSRs to swtich over 4-stroke tech
New Delhi, Jul 17 (UNI) The Delhi government has approved a scheme relating to grant of subsidy for replacement of retro-fitted two-stroke Three-wheeler Scooter auto Rickshaw (TSR) by those with four-stroke engine technology as a measure to further control vehicular pollution in Delhi.
The decision was taken today at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.
The scheme for switch over would be applicable only to retro-fitted vehicles that already had the permission to ply on the Delhi roads for the next several years till the vehicle reached the age of ten years, Ms Dikshit said.
The scheme would be applicable on mandatory basis for all TSRs above the age of ten years, registered before July 31, 1996, she added.
For the TSRs with less than ten years age, it would become mandatory on achieving the age of ten years but before that it will be optional. Permission to register new vehicles would be granted on submission of proof of physical scrapping of the old vehicles.
The government would also allow transfer of permit from old to the new vehicle. The government will provide a subsidy of six per cent and the manufactures had been persuaded to decrease their price by six per cent.
The TSR operators were also allowed to retain their electronic meters.
Overall there would be a saving of over Rs 15,000 to TSR operators.
The cabinet had also approved the creation of 16 posts in different scales for the Delhi Legal Services Authority's 24 Hours Day and Night Working Permanent Legal Aid Clinic at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Place, Gole Market, New Delhi.
