SC rulings slap on the face of UPA: Malhotra
New Delhi, July 17 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and MP from Delhi Vijay Kumar Malhotra today described the Supreme Court rulings on the unauthorised construction in Delhi and AIIMS doctors strike as "two slaps on the face of the UPA Government." The apex court has taken exception to enactment of Delhi Laws (special provisions) 2006, putting moratorium against the removal of unauthorised construction and sealing of commercial establishments operating from residential areas in Delhi and also directed the government to pay salary to doctors on strike against reservations till May 30, 2006 and not till June 3.
On the Delhi Laws (Special provisions) 2006 Bill, Mr Malhotra who is Deputy Leader of the BJP in the Lok Sabha, said he had warned the Government in Parliament itself that the legislation was unconstitutional.
In fact he had suggested to provide some kind of amnesty on the line given to those having black money, to such constructions which had already been regularised, but the Government ignored it, Mr Malhotra said.
The Malhotra committee headed by him which had gone into the issue of unauthorised construction in the capital had also talked of amnesty, he said.
On the issue of doctors strike at AIIMS, Mr Malhotra said the court verdict against Health and Family Welfare Minister Anbumani Ramadoss's order "No work, no pay" to striking doctors had left no room for the Minister to stay in power.
He accused the Minister of settling his 'own scores'. Mr Malhotra said that he being a member of the AIIMS committee had opposed the Minister's order.
