Rotational Loadshedding in Delhi, 3359 MW peak time demand met
New Delhi, July 17 (UNI) After witnessing a satisfactory power situation during the last week following the onset of South West Monsoons in Delhi, it is back to loadshedding.
The discoms in Delhi today effected rotational hourly load shedding as the power supply fell short of the peak demand, official sources said.
However, the sources said load shedding started after opening of offices, today being a working day.
The sources said the loadshedding had to be resorted to as the Northen Grid was experiencing frequency problems due to the generation falling far short of the demand. As frequency fell down below 48.5 hz, the NRLDC directed the discoms to resort to rotational hourly loadshedding.
Another reason for the shortfall was non-availability of about 50 MW power from the 500 MW capacity Singrauli Power Station which has developed leakage in its boiler tube.
However, Delhi continued to get supply of 300 MW power out of 1500 power generation at Naptha-Jhakri.
There was also some relief of around 15MW supply from one of the 140 MW power plant at Tehri which started generation today.
