Markets open weak, Sensex at 10,678.22 pts
Mumbai, July 17: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex today opened in the red by 41 points at 10,647.26 points, as the crude oil prices remain affected with the conflagration of violence in the mid-east.
The Sensex today witnessed a strong volatility and touched a low of 10,477.34. Currently it is trading at 10,494.40, which is 183 points below the previous close of 10,678.22.
All the Asian benchmark indices including Japan, Singapore, Taiwan and Indonesia are down between 0.78 to 2.9 per cent today.
Even all the BSE sectoral indices are trading in the red today, led by PSU which down by 2.30 per cent, auto by 2.19 per cent and FMCG down by 2.14 per cent and others are down between 0.50 to 1.79 per cent.
Top gainers are TCS, which is up by 0.93 per cent, and Gujarat Ambuja Cement up by 0.42 per cent.
Major losers are HLL, ONGC, Reliance Energy, Dr Reddy's, HDFC, Bajaj Auto, Wipro, Tata Motors, Satyam Computers and Maruti Udyog, all down between 2.33 to 4.06 per cent.
