Kalam lauds Nanaji's development model
Bhopal, July 17 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today lauded the integrated rural development initiative of noted social worker Nanaji Deshmukh in Chitrakoot area and said it was most suited for India.
Addressing the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly on the opening day of its monsoon session, Dr Kalam recalled his recent visit to Chitrakoot, where Nanaji Deshmukh-led Deendayal Research Institute had launched a unique village development system.
The DRI has plans to develop clusters of villages for social advancement and prosperity, he said.
Along with cultivation of foodgrains, medicinal and aromatic plants and horticulture, the institute is facilitating a cohesive conflict-free society with 80 villages around Chitrakoot becoming litigation-free with the villagers deciding to sort out differences amicably in the village itself.
The residents of Patni village near Chitrakoot then requested upgradation of the school to plus two level and a road connecting multiple villages, he said, adding the then Chief Minister promptly agreed to meet both demands.
