Gujarati writer apprehends danger to his life from Swadhyay Parivar
Vadodara, July 17 (UNI) Eminent Gujarati writer and columnist Gunvant Shah was today provided police protection after he apprehended danger to his life from members of the Swadhyay Parivar which is now in the news for the murder of US-based NRI Pankaj Trivedi.
The writer, a known critic of the Swadhyay Parivar, today sought immediate police protection to him and his family members after he came to know about the attack on spiritual leader Swami Sachidanand's ashram in Anand district by some unidentified people in the wee hours today.
J P Road police inspector P J Trivedi said Mr Shah had been provided with four armed policemen at the latter's Akota residence following an order issued by the city police commissioner.
The writer, writing columns in a prominent vernacular daily on the religious sect, suspected involvement of parivar members in the NRI murder case and reportedly filed a complaint with the police expressing fear to his life from the Parivar.
It is alleged that the ashram of Swami Sachidanand was attacked last night by a group of people because of the Swami's recent remarks on the religious sect. The unidentified miscreants, who injured four of the ashram members, escaped under the cover of the darkness after Swami Sachidanand himself fired in the air from his revolver.
