Downtrend of Sensex continues
Mumbai, July 17 (UNI) The lacklustre performance on the Sensex continued as the selling pressure increased over lack of buying interest among the investors and the ongoing West Asian crisis.
The crisis between Israel and Lebanon have led to increase in the crude oil prices around the globe. In addition to that, with the oil producing countries refusing to increase the production capacity, the situation has further aggravated.
At 1310 hrs, the Senex is trading at 10,522.23 as compared to previous close of 10,678.22.
All the Asian benchmark indices are trading in the red between 0.78 per cent to 2.9 per cent including Japan, South Korea, Indonesia and Taiwan.
BSE indices are also trading in the red, led by PSU sector, which is down by 2.22 per cent and it is followed by auto, which is down by 1.90 per cent. The remaining indices are also down betwen 0.15 to 1.56 per cent.
Major gainers on the index are TCS, Gujarat Ambuja Cement and ACC, all are up between 0.31 per cent to 0.93 per cent.
Among the losers are ONGC, Reliance Energy, Reliance Communications, Dr Reddy's, HDFC Bank, HDFC, Tata Motors and Satyam Computers, all down between 2.23 to 4.6 per cent.
