Diggy objects to language used in govt ads
Bhopal, July 17 (UNI) Objecting to the language used in Madhya Pradesh government advertisements regarding a school education campaign, AICC General Secretary and former chief minister Digvijay Singh has suggested that the BJP regime should refrain from employing words that were discriminatory on grounds of community, gender and religion.
In a letter to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Mr Singh drew attention to the 'Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan' ads and said it seemed as if the government wished to discourage students from certain communities. Copies of the missive were released to the press today.
''The ads refer to the 'upanayan' ceremony and make it appear as if the campaign is not for Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Jains and Zoroastrians. The number of school-going girls is lesser than boys in this state. Muslims and other minorities are also backward in the education sphere,'' he alleged.
Mr Singh has presented a memorandum to Governor Balram Jakhar.
