Police foiled exfiltration bid, four arrested near LoC
Srinagar, July 16 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have foiled an ex-filtration bid when they arrested four Kashmiri youths in the frontier district of Kupwara before they could cross over to Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Police said a tip was received that a group of ten Kashmiri youths from South Kashmir was on way to Kupwara to cross over to PoK for receiving arms training.
Later, police parties were rushed to different directions to arrest the youths before they could cross the Line of Control (LoC).
It said a special team from Pulwama got in touch with the Kupwara police to nab the youths.
The police later arrested six of them from a mosque in a far flung village at Lolab.
The youths, identified as Sabzar Ahmed Bhat, Aadil Hussain Mir, Aaqib Ahmed Mir and Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, all residents of Tral in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, were broght back to their villages.
The youths said that they were threatned to kill their families if they did not join the militancy by Hizbul Mujahideen, police said.
Police also arrested two HM militants Ali Mohammad and Mehrajuddin after they were identified by the youths.
Later, the all the four youths were handed over to their parents.
This is for the first time that any exfiltration attempt was made by Kashmiri youths to cross over to PoK after snow start melting on the high peaks.
