India-Bangla working group to work out consensus on border
Dhaka, July 16 (UNI) India-Bangladesh Joint Boundary Working Group (JBWG), after a pause of four years, began a two-day meeting to work out a consensus on border demarcation, exchange of enclaves and lands under adverse possession, and construction of boundary pillars along the common border.
Meeting sources told UNI that the officials from the two sides were deliberating on demarcation of the 6.5 km border at Daikhata, Lathitila-Dumabari and Muhuri river, exchange of enclaves and territories in adverse possession, and construction of boundary pillars.
The 16-member Indian side is being led by Joint Secretary of Indian External Affairs Ministry Mohan Kumar while the 19-member Bangladesh delegation by Joint Secretary (Political) of the Home Ministry Akhtar Ahmed.
The last JBWG meeting was held in New Delhi on March 26-27 in 2002.
