'Hatyadeli' village's name has its origins in 'Haathi'
Jhabua, MP, July 16 (UNI) The name of 'Hatyadeli' village -- where President A P J Abdul Kalam is scheduled to visit tomorrow -- of this district has its origins in the word 'Haathi (elephant)'.
Nestled among beautiful valleys, the 1,206-strong village's name got distorted over a period of time.
Legend has it that a large number of elephants used to take bath in Sunar river here and the village got a name 'Haathha Dehli' meaning 'doorstep of elephants'.
The name got distorted from 'Haattha Dehli' to 'Haatyadeli' and then to 'Hatyadeli' during course of time, villagers said.
Dr Kalam would reach the village at 1455 hrs and depart at 1620 hrs. During his visit, he would observe cultivation of 'jatropha' crops besides 'head start' scheme started to provide computer training to tribal middle school students.
The President would also interact with villagers and children.
