Family members of missing Indians appeal to government
Gurdaspur, July 16 (UNI) An anguished wife holding her eight-month- old baby in her arms, bursts into tears whenever someone comes home to console her and offer words of assurances.
''Phikir na kar,(do not worry), he will return are the repeated words of friends and relatives who have been pouring into Inderjit Kaur's home in Bhagowal village, ever since the news of her husband Gurvinder Singh going 'missing' in war-torn Iraq was conveyed to her by a family friend yesterday.
Gurvinder alongwith Sanjit Kumar Sharma hailing from Authala village near Jalandhar, employed as truck drivers by the Kuwaiti based Kuwain Gulf Links (KGL) company, have been reported 'missing' in Iraq aloghwith three other Indians.
Despite latest reports from the External Affairs that the five Indians had been detained by the Iraqi police as they had no valid travel documents, the family of Gurvinder are worried. Gurvinder is the sole bread winner of the family and had raised Rs 1.25 lakh to pay a Hoshiarpur based travel agent for sending him to Kuwait.
We appeal to the government of India and the Prime Minister to bring him (Gurvinder) back home. MS Inderjit Kaur said while consoling her aged mother-in-law, who keeps inquiring from visitors about the latest news about her son. '' Waheguru, bring back my son and i will never send him again 'baahar' (foreign)'', the mother keeps telling relatives.
