Centre to setup software tech park
Aizawl, Jul 16: Mizoram could soon se an IT boom as the Central IT Ministry has chalked out a blue-print for setting up Software Technology Park of India (STPI) here.
It was revealed in a review meeting of Community Information Centres (CIC) by the task force committee headed by the Secretary D S Mathur from IT Ministry, Government of India.
Further adding shape to STPI project, Debajit Sarma,Asst Director STPI, Asom, sent as an envoy by the centre, has already arrived in the state capital inspecting the building offered for the establishment of STPI by the state government.
Mr Sarma disclosed that an STPI unit will come with a state of art technology and will act as an incubator for the young entrepreneurs in the region.
According to the project details, the STPI will include an earth station which will serve as an international gateway hooking up with Intel satellite.
The STPI will be established with bandwidth availability on demand and with no last-mile problem, it would also disperse a seamless connectivity while at the same time act as facilitator for developing secondary cities.
The main objective is to promote small and medium scale entrepreneurs.
Lalrodingi, Project Director IT under the state Industries department said, ''We are happy to learn that STPI will soon be here. Our department is ready to help and give all support to any IT developers.'' According to the plans, the Department of Information Technology has so far created 41 STPI in the country and Mizoram will be the 42nd venture.
