RSS, BJP differ on terrorism issue
New Delhi, July 15 (UNI) There is a clear difference in the perception of the RSS and BJP over the recent spurt in terrorist activities, including Mumbai bomb blasts, with the former emphasising on national unity, and the latter issuing an ultimatum to the UPA Government to ''either govern or get out''.
The difference of opinion within the Sangh Parivar is evident in two articles in the latest issue of the RSS mouthpiece 'Panchjanya.' While RSS Chief KS Sudarshan has accused Pakistan of continuously abetting terrorism in India and said it was time that all political parties demonstrated national unity, leaving behind their ideological differences, BJP president Rajnath Singh issued a stern warning to the Manmohan Singh Government to either properly govern the country or leave the stage for others.
Urging all political parties to demonstrate total unity to fight the menace, Mr Sudarshan said it was time that the Government strongly dealt with Pakistan on the issue. Noting that the Mumbai the blasts should not be seen in isolation, he cited the instances of terrorist attack on the Akshardham and Raghunath temples and the Parliament House.
The RSS supremo said the very existence of Pakistan was based on an ''anti-Indian sentiment'' and the government must realise that Pakistan would never live in peace with India.
Mr Sudarshan also held the US equally responsible for the increasing incidents of terrorism, saying it was using Pakistan for its diplomatic fight against China. ''This is the reason that although the US was accusing Pakistan of promoting terrorism, it was not declaring Pakistan a terrorist state,'' he claimed, adding that China had missiles with ranges upto 12000 km and the US was ''scared of it and wants to have its control over India and adjoining areas.'' ''The US feels that the expansion of China could be controlled by India only and our government should understand its game plan and should not become its tool against China, he said.
The RSS chief also lashed out at the Congress-Communist combine, charging them with ''being out to destroy Hindu society.'' ''Their appeasement policy is encouraging the separatist forces.
Even some of the central ministers are promoting communal divide by their statements,'' he said, urging the nationalists among the Muslims to stand up against such forces.
Meanwhile, the BJP chief, while endorsing the suggestion to fight terrorism unitedly, however was more harsh on the Government, saying it had a ''very soft policy to deal with the problem and had withdrawn POTA to pursue its appeasement policy towards the minorities.'' ''Encouraged by the Government's weak policy, the terrorists are reaching their targets at ease,'' he claimed.
While demanding that the Government convene an all party meeting to discuss terrorism, Mr Rajnath Singh asserted that the Government must meanwhile initiate action to destroy terrorist bases across the border and said the confidence-building process between the two countries would not succeed until Pakistan stopped abetting such forces.
On the Kashmir issue, he suggested that the government outrightly reject Pakistan's oft-repeated proposals for either ''self-rule or or joint management.'' Charging all the UPA constituents with ''pursuing vote bank politics,'' he regretted this was ''emboldening separatist forces.'' UNI KAS VD GC1617
