Siddaramaiah to go to people with misdeeds of K'taka govt
Bangalore, July 14 (UNI) Suspended Janata Dal (Secular) leader Siddaramaiah today said he will go to the people's court to highlight the misdeeds of the JD(S)-BJP coalition government, headed by H D Kumaraswamy, in Karnataka.
Speaking to newspersons in the Assembly lounge, he said the prevailing political situation in the state forced him to resign from the membership of the House and the party. He was likely to join the Congress after meeting party supremo Mrs Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi on July 18.
To a question, he said he would not make any efforts to topple the coalition government. Going by the trends, this government would not last long, he opined.
Asked whether the Congress would dump him after using him in the elections, he said he did not think so.
Mr Siddaramaiah said, ''With former Prime Minister and JD (S) President H D Devegowda burying the ideology of the party, he had no other option but to join hands with the Congress for its secular and democratic views. We need a platform to fight communal forces and the Congress was the right outfit for it.'' Senior JD (S) leader P G R Sindhia was also unhappy with style of functioning of Mr Devegowda, he added.
To another question, he said the All India Progressive Janata Dal headed by C M Ibrahim would merge with the Congress.
The movement of backward classes would continue. It was an apolitical platform to get justice for these oppressed people, he added.
