Sentenced to life, convict escapes from court

Mahoba, July 14 (UNI) A murder accused who was sentenced to life by a local court here hoodwinked his police escort and escaped from the court premises.

Moti Singh and Munna Singh were convicted in a murder case by fast track court judge Mahant Lal yesterday morning and awarded life terms alongwith fine of Rs 5,000 each.

However, taking advantage of the crowd assembled in the court, Moti Lal escaped from police custody.

Moti and Munna had shot dead Harpal in village Ganj in Karbai area of the district on February 1, 2003. Later, a case was registered against the duo.

Meanwhile, a manhunt had been launched to nab the absconder.
