Punjab CPI justifies outside support to UPA government
Jalandhar, July 14 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) today denied the charges of practising dual policy and justified its support from outside to the UPA Government at the Centre.
Talking to reporters here today the party Punjab unit chief Jagrup Singh said the left parties had decided to extend support to the UPA in the wake of prevailing political compulsions in the country to prevent communal forces from grabbing power.
He said from the very beginning the support was conditional on agreed Common Minimum Programme to safe guard common man's interest.
He said that these parties including CPI had always insisted on implementation of the Common Minimum Programme and would continue to force the government to follow the same.
He said the parties disagreed with the government's economic policies in violation of the agreed Common Minimum Programme and therefore resorted to launch an agitation against this deviation and nothing is wrong in this attitude.
''Therefore, the allegation of dual character were not correct'', he said.
