Mahadev meets Sonia to discuss Karnataka politics
New Delhi, Jul 14 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and former Karnataka Minister M Mahadev today met Congress President Sonia Gandhi to discuss the political scenario in the state, and said that the situation was fluid and the party should be ready to face elections anytime.
Talking to newspersons after his meeting with Mrs Gandhi and senior Congress leaders he said, that he had placed his view points on the Karnataka situation and had told Mrs Gandhi that the people of the state, especially the Veerashaiva community, were with the Congress. The party should be ready to accept help, support and participation of all sections of society.
He said there was no coordination between the ruling Janata Dal (Secular) and the BJP and both were working to save the chairs of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa. The more they continue, the more the people will suffer, he said.
About former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah joining the party, Mr Mahadev, a prominent leader from old Mysore region said, it would strengthen the party and he, alongwith other Congress leaders would make an all out effort to get him reelected from Chamundeshwari Assembly constituency, if he were to contest on Congress ticket.
He also called on Rajya Sabha MP A K Anthony, incharge of Karnataka in Congress party, AICC General Secretaries Oscar Fernandes, B K Hari Prasad and Union Ministers M V Rajashekharan, K H Muniyappa to discuss the organisational issues as well as taking measures to help the backward regions of the state.
